See "Saw"

I watched Saw: The Final Chapter this afternoon at Robinson's Place Manila on my own since almost every single one that I asked to come with me said they are scared of the movie's nature.

It was already late when I got to the mall. I only had an hour to spare before the show starts and I haven't eaten my lunch yet. So I grabbed a very quick lunch and practically run to catch the movie. At first, I was so happy to know that the movie is showing at the Midtown. But I was disappointed the moment I walked in. The not-more-than ten rows of seats are too close to the screen. There's not a Balcony section that can make the experience better so I have to settle to the second row since the first row was already full. As I settle to my seat, the discomfort sets in. The screen is too close so I had to tilt my head in order to see the whole screen better.

The movie, as for me lacks something. I think since this movie has seven installments over the years, the story got so predictable already. I had not watched the first five chapters and watched only the sixth chapter and the story really did not change much. There are still, of course, the bloods, screams, the typical antagonist being the wiser than the protagonist but end up losing in the end. And that was it. The movie is a mixture of present storytelling and backflash storytelling. I think it lacks some emotions. There is emotion but in between screams, and deaths, the movie just lost the emotion along the way. You can see the anguish of the victims, the fear in their eyes, but all of these are very technical. I mean, these are prerequisites of a thriller movie but I see no soul in them. Their eyes are cold and are not speaking to me which I am very fond of seeing in a movie. I love it when the eyes are evoking emotions and therefore touching me and letting me live their lives and feel what they are feeling. But in this movie, I felt none except by the jolt I have to endure because of the sound effects and the sickening feeling in my stomach whenever I see some of the most gruesome scenes in the movie. So I think, this is really the best time to end the whole series. Although, the movie sort of used the open-ending kind of end this time, while I think that there are still some loose ends that need to be tied. It was a short film that I think there are some parts that were rushed so some of them turned out "half-baked".

Photoshopped Climate

I was with a friend last night while waiting for our jeepney ride home. We were talking about work and somehow, our talk went to the skills area. He asked me if I know how to use Adobe Photoshop and I said no. Yeah, in this digital age, I do not know how to use Photoshop. Sure, I know how to insert text to my blog pictures using the software, I know how to darken and lighten pictures, but that's about it. Other than that, nada. I don't know how to erase pimples, slash someone's body in half, use mouths-opened-wide dragons as my background and whatever more that is that you can do with Photoshop.

As I think about that conversation today, I asked myself why is it that even though we have Computer classes during college that I did not learn this software. Then I thought, oh yeah, because of the numerous class interruption, especially during the rainy season. Then I again asked myself, how come when I was in highschool, classes are seldom cut short or suspended? I was toying with a possible reason when suddenly it hit me. The rains before, were not as hard and as frequent then than during my college years. Out of nowhere, a thought suddenly crossed my mind. Climate Change. Yeah, I know it may sound overrated but when you come to think of it, it is not impossible. As time passes, so is the change in our climate. The climate change has started to make us be more aware of its presence. Remember Ondoy? And how Metro Manila was submerged into a very huge swimming pool? Where even celebrities and rich people did not manage to escape the mandatory appearance of a huge pool inside and outside their homes? That is a part of Climate Change. Have you ever experience leaving your place one very sunny and summer-y morning to go to the mall and hear slashing of raindrops against the glass doors of the mall come lunch time? Yeah, that's Climate Change.

So you see, climate change does not affect our social lives alone, it also affects our education and eventually our careers. I am not trying to impress people with this entry but I think I have something to share and ponder with the next time I come across an article or a conversation that involves Climate Change. And I hope you think about this too and analyze its impact to your life as well. If we know the effect/s of climate change in our lives, we will be convinced to avoid contributing to Climate Change.

Viet-lang

The President's ASEAN Summit in Vietnam has created a great buzz in the cyberworld and even with the knowledge that the cyberworld has already been purged with unceasing talks about the controversy, I just cannot stop myself from joining the bandwagon. Too much has already been said regarding the issue and I will do my best to refrain from citing too familiar comments.

First, I want to say that I am starting to feel remorse about voting the current President. I know and always say that the President is just starting to warm his Palace seat to expect perfection from him. But this time around, I think there are too much controversy surrounding this administration to ignore the truth. I won't go to the below-the-belt criticism for those are for the political immatures. But I, for one will use this particular incident to justify my "remorse".

When the Vietnam controversy broke out on the World Wide Web, I know that the immediate supervisor of Ms. Mislang (the antagonist in this story), told the public that he reprimanded her for her actions. But sir, may I just refresh your mind that when Mislang tweeted her dissatisfaction on the wine, you asked her which of the wines served "sucked". Meaning, you did not find this inappropriate and undiplomatic. I do not know if maybe after the flaming-hot banters on the internet prompted you to reprimand her or you just said that because of the negativity that it has created. And, may I just inform you that articles about this incident has been written in other parts of the world also, like in Finland. And that when the Vietnamese people did not say anything about the issue, it does not mean that they are not offended by the remarks. Remember, the remarks are negative and shameful. Answering Mislang's comments will only deepen the shame that they might be feeling right now.

What I cannot accept is that Mr. President himself did not make any "conciliatory" remarks just to ease up everything with the offended party. I don't mean to say that Mr. President should apologize or publicly shame Mislang, but he should at least release a statement to the Vietnam people to appease them.

Lastly, to Ms. Mislang, I do not know you personally, or in any other way before this controversy that you created. But as a normal citizen of this country, please be cautious of your actions because you along with all the Cabinet members of the Aquino administration, reflect the President himself. Your comments about the wine, the men and motorcycles of Vietnam would have only laughed at if you are just an ordinary Filipino visiting Vietnam. But when you are a part of the President's delegation in an official business in any part of the world, your remarks are whether it were sent to a social networking site or overheard from you when you are drunk, will always have an effect to the country you are talking about and our country as well. So next time, when traveling as part of the official delegation, no matter how the wine sucks, or how ugly the people were, nor how deadly the streets are, please refrain from shouting it out to the whole world. Just keep it to yourself and wait until you are safely out of "unnecessary listeners' " earshot, then you can start gossiping about it to your friends. Until then, please zip your mouth and just scratch the itch from your fingers to avoid another social networking mishap. The President already has too many problems to handle. He does not need any more problems to solve that are created by those whom he has too much confidence.

Book review: Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert has created a hype since it was published last 2006. As a fiction reader, memoirs and inspirational books never stirred my curiosity before. As a student, at the time of the publication of Gilbert’s novel, the schedule of my student life has been very chaotic and school readings here and there has already occupied my time that there’s no more room for some luxury reads.

Now that I am being very conscious of my reading, I let myself be swept by the still very hyped-up novel of Gilbert’s, especially now that it already has a movie adaptation showing. First things first, by the time that I bought the novel, the book cover has already changed from its original simple, macaronis that form the word “eat”, and the word “pray” formed by a Buddhist rosary, and the word “love” written in scarves, the new book cover is now changed to the movie illustration. Julia Roberts sitting on a bench that she shares with two nuns and the three of them are eating their ice creams on a cup, with Italian backdrop is now adorning the cover of Gilbert’s novel. Although I love the look of Julia Roberts in the cover, posed as if she is the happiest child on earth with her ice cream spoon inside her mouth, looking around her with her doe-eyes, I still want the original cover, which I always prefer.

Reading the book, the first part of which is Gilbert’s agony in New York and then she flew to Italy to experience “pleasure”, away from her chaotic life in New York, the book has already failed to capture me. For me, the most important part of a book is the beginning, the first few pages of the first chapter. If the beginning does not interest me, it would be a struggle already to continue reading. As really want to know what the hype is all about, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and continue reading. The Italy part is about the pleasure of eating and learning a new language. As I am also a food blogger, I expect myself to like this since it talks mostly about the food that Gilbert explored and discovered while in Italy. But I must admit, the book failed my expectation and did not satisfy my hunger for imaginary food trip. Although I understand that it is not a food blog or review, I thought since she is talking about the pleasure of Italian food, she should have gave it a more delicious approach.

The next stop, which is India, has been a nightmare for me. Not only did Gilbert sang a lullaby to me, she also used this part to yak. While reading the India part, I expect it to be serene, to be divine, to let her fly me to religious pleasure and at one point or another, give me a peace of mind, a calming effect. But no, I felt that she just went on ranting about her life, her disappointments, that the “magical” serenity that I have been looking for was blocked out. I think she just yak and yak her way throughout the chapter that when finally, there was a moment of tranquility and divinity, I can only read without feeling anything as if I’m a corpse, letting be pushed in a coffin.

The third part, Indonesia is supposed to wrap up the whole novel by combining what she has learned and discovered in Italy and in India. This part, I like. I think, this is the only chapter where there really is a story. Where Gilbert finally let go of the objective of the chapter and instead focused on telling how the events really occurred while staying in Bali. This is the only part where I enjoyed the whole chapter without falling asleep or urging to fight away the sleepiness that has been creeping in.

All in all, I suggest that if you really want to discover what Eat Pray Love was all about, just borrow a copy from somebody than buying one for yourself. This is one of the books which the moment I put down, I would have to force myself to pick up again to continue reading. I think I got my expectation way high above that the novel failed to meet it.

Boss's Assessment

Yesterday is the 100th day of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III in office. He delivered a report, in which the theme of the event was aptly called "Report kay Boss". I am impressed by the program's theme because at the end of the day, they have not forgotten yet that his countrymen are his boss, as how they called them during his SONA. As I was impressed by this, I cannot ignore the fact that the President's speech was almost dedicated wholly to blame past administrations. I know that the past administration, especially the last one has been stained with too much controversies but this is a report of a subordinate to his superior. In a corporate setting, you do not include blames of your co-workers on your official report, do you? The speech should be reporting to us, the progress of the nation, and what has been accomplished over the oh-so-short 100 days of the President. Yes, I think that the report is not appropriate because I think that 100 days are too short for the President to accomplish any major thing worthy of reporting. I would also like to suggest to the President to caution or better yet, look for another speechwriter. His speeches to the nation from his Inauguration to the SONA, to his 100th day report was full of accusations and blames of the previous administration. As truthful as these things can be, I do not think blaming other people when you are the one in power now will help the President nor the President's image. Do not keep on blaming other people, this is a report of YOUR progress as the new OIC of the nation. We do not need to hear bow bad the previous presidents were. Our concern is YOU and the now, and the future, or at least the next 6 years. Your blaming past administrations will only make you indifferent from the other administrations. So please, stop.

Although, I do not like the come out of the "reporting" by the President yesterday, what of the same tone of his speech, the vague answers given, and the "corny" answers, I also do not agree of the interruption did by the students. It is but shameful to yell your sentiments, in a private place, not your place, and to the President. I believe these students were enrolled in schools so that they learn how to be a better person. How come they do not know how to respect when it is one of the very first lessons that you will learn in school? Is it very cool for people to know that you do not have respect? Are you proud that your name, and your school name are published in the media and it is not because you have done something very worthy of your school and your parents' pride? I think you should have at least behaved yourself instead of interrupting and shouting at the venue.

The problem is this, no matter what kind of administration we have, seems like there are some people who are always in the opposition. Those who do not even know what they are fighting for anymore. Those who are even before y0u act, already have their objections. If this will be the case, then how can this nation be a better one? How can the country's politics improve? If we will always be on the other side of the court no matter what, will this help in resolving conflicts among the Filipinos? How does being vigilant turn into being over-vigilant? There's nothing wrong in being vigilant. There's nothing wrong either in being careful. This country has already seen bad to worse days of its existence. This country has already gone through too many problems and yet it has always managed to survive. Nobody wants to go through "hell" all over again. But let us be fair and patient as we should be careful and protective of our country. Giving the new leader a little faith is not that difficult, is it?

Book review: P.S. I Love You

P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern was released years ago and has also been made to a movie last 2007. But it is only this time that I get to read it. Not that I cannot get a hold of a copy, but because I have been avoiding it. I did not hear of the book when it was released because I was not that keen on reading novels since I was busy with school then. When I heard about the movie, I was in a limbo with regards to my relationship at that time so it was a choice not to watch the movie so as not to depress myself. I was very tempted at that time because of the rave about the movie but I also happen to know through a little research that it is such a tear-jerker so I really have to force myself to skip it. After a while, since the movie is a hit, the bookstores' shelves would always bear P.S. I Love You at the front, where everyone can see it without searching. Again, the temptation of grabbing a copy was so intense but I was scared to read it. It is only now that I have convinced myself that I have finally moved on that I got the nerve to buy myself a copy.

As I start reading the book the other night, I was still skeptic. I do not know what to expect, except for the fact that the book as one of the critics' say is indeed a tear-jerker, "4 1/2 hankies out of 5". As I read the first fe
w pages, I was immediately hooked. I can barely put it down even as the night got deeper. I was almost half-way through when I finally let myself drag me to sleep. I was not able to read last night since I was pretty busy so I continued this morning till tonight. I have already finished the 370-page novel of Ahern.
The plot is incredible. I love
the characters in the story because each of them is real. I mean, the characters' emotions are very real that its as if these people truly exists. Cecelia did not bother to sugar-coat a thing and she played with the characters as honestly as she could.

The dark days of Holly were so true that its as if you can reach out and stroke her hair to make her feel better. Gerry's love has been so great and pure that you will find yourself half-wishing if you can trade places with Holly. Holly's siblings each has their own lives and yet even though they are not the main characters, Ahern still gave them enough share of their own limelight and yet did not overpower the story of Holly and Gerry.

Overall, the novel is great. Ahern may added a few more characters into the story as it progresses but she did not add them to confuse the readers and she neither did just add them there just to abandon them after their "purpose" at the moment. She gave them their own stories, their own life, and managed to incorporate them to Holly's life smoothly.

Though I must admit that the novel did not gave me much tears to pour, there are some parts where I did cry but not as much as I expected, (or dreaded). I do not however recommend you to compare with me because as I am a little cry baby, I cannot decipher my emotions these past few weeks. I have been having problems processing my emotions so my not crying that much cannot rely upon.

One thing that I have learned though, it that it really is not an option to solely rely to your husband or to anybody else whether financially or emotionally. Holly had a hard time keeping up with the financials after Gerry died that she have, at one point, has to ask her mother to pay for her internet use. The point is, the novel just proved me right and supported my personal policy of having my own money, and my own source of living regardless if I would have a wealthy husband or not.
It was also a lesson to be learned for me not to rely on any other person your completeness as a being (which I tend to do with my past relationships). You wouldn't know how to get up on your own once that "life" of yours has already gone. It is also a lesson learned for me that you also have to understand other people's feelings as much as you want them to understand yours. Them being happy when you are suffering does not mean that they are insensitive, they have the will to move on and continue their life which you should also consider doing for yourself. And for once, I truly believe, with the help of this novel that indeed, Happiness is a choice. Brooding about something that you have no control of is just a waste of time. The world do not stop its journey while you are wasting your time brooding over something you cannot change. It continues and you should try to catch up or risk being stuck somewhere only to wake up into an entirely new world.

Book review: I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti

I just finished reading I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti by Giulia Melucci. The story as a whole, for me is okay. I mean it is a memoir anyway so Giulia is only narrating her life to the readers, particularly, her love life. The relationships that she had, each ending tragically, only because Giulia would always tend to expect a happy ending with these men only to find out in the end that their relationship with her is destined to only be short-lived. The whole point of the book, I think is that for every failed relationship that Giulia would encounter, one of the things that kept her sane, is food. The same goes even if she is enjoying the romantic period of each relationship. I must admit that the only things that made me keep on going with this book are the recipes. I want to know what food will Giulia prepare for the next event on her life. Although, I must also say that Giulia has a skill in writing wherein she always manage to "wake" me whenever I encounter a slow part of the book. Basically, I think that Giulia made the right decision to write a book about love and food combined. I think this combination is so good because most of the readers love love stories, and they also like to eat. But to be fair enough, although I find some parts of the book, quite boring, I was still entertained. I think the fact that this book tells about her life, made this more entertaining and exciting.

For the food lovers though, you will not be satiated by the love story on which this book revolves because for almost every food that Giulia made for occasions, recipes are included in the book. And I love the side comments that she sometimes adds at the end of the cooking procedures. But the best feature for me is the fact that whenever something that has been cooked before makes a comeback on the succeeding recipe, Giulia always include the page number where you will find the recipe of that particular item (example: pasta). And I have observed that Giulia made a whole lotta pasta over her adult life. No wonder her book title suggested spaghetti. In general, I think I can give this book a rating of 3/5. This is due to some references that I cannot relate with simply because it is neither too old or too rare. But I can't wait to try some of her pasta recipes. I am just grateful that I have recipes without buying a cookbook.

To dream or not to dream

A movie has been creating a lot of buzz in the international scene and stirred up my curiosity over time. I am talking about the latest movie of the Titanic hearthrob Leonardo diCaprio, INCEPTION. The movie is about dreams and how we can intercept with somebody's dream and even construct or design a dream.

I watched the movie alone since a friend who is supposed to watch it with me was not able to. At first, I thought I will not enjoy it. I thought I will be bored because I cannot understand the first scene. It was confusing but very artistic. As the movie runs, I find it very visually enticing. The scenes are breathtaking and very cool to the eyes. Although the scenes are scientific, the backgrounds are always very natural. And also, even though most of the scene shots are "edgy", the transitions are very fluid. Each picture is truly very smooth and very pleasing to watch.

As for the story, I must say that this is a very ambitious yet intellectual story. As I have said, at first I thought the movie will only bore me to death. Honestly, I thought of leaving the theater after the first 15 minutes of the movie. But I gave it the benefit of the doubt and continued watching. The movie will stimulate your mind and you just simply cannot avoid thinking while watching the movie. It is very admirable that people can think of something like this movie! Who would have thought that you can actually "design" a dream? Other people's dream, in this case. And, who would have thought that you can actually make large amounts of money by ruining or intercepting other people's dream to steal their ideas and in turn, to help you strategize your business. This movie will not only entertain you, it will not only satisfy and fulfill your visual appetite but also leave you wondering about a lot of things. It will also leave you craving for the ability to construct your own dreams and maybe live inside it as if its reality. This movie really deserves to be the top-grosser and I believe that Leonardo diCaprio did justice to the character. He simply outdid himself as Jack in Titanic to be Dom in Inception.

Book Review: Love, Rosie

I have been reading a lot of books over the years and just to put this habit into good use, I thought of writing reviews about these novels. I will try to write a review for every book that I read from now on and if I can, I may also write something about the books that I've read in the past. That is, if I can still remember those novels.

One book that really entertained me is "Love, Rosie" by Cecilia Ahern. Ahern is the daughter of the former Irish official, who has a Journalism degree under her belt. I heard of Ahern for the first time when the movie "P.S. I Love You" came out. I was not that interested on the book, and I did not watch the movie either because I was, at that moment, under the spell of pain. A love just ended and I was not ready to watch or read anything that speaks of ended relationships. But after several trips to my favorite bookstore and countless visits to fora that recommends good reads, I was persuaded. In these actual and virtual visits, "P.S. I Love You" always stands out. So I thought, maybe the book is really that good that a recommendation list is never complete without it included. When I was about to finally buy a copy of this novel, I stopped and diverted instead to Ahern's other novels. After browsing a bit, I finally decided to purchase "Love, Rosie" instead. I guess, I really don't believe that I can read "P.S. I Love You" yet, since I know that I really am not yet ready.

Love, Rosie is a chic-lit novel th
at tells about childhood best friends who happened to be of the opposite sex. The novel is composed mostly of exchanged notes, letters, and e-mails between these two characters, Rosie and Alex. Each exchange tells of the latest happenings on their lives, full of their true feelings but coated in a wad of fabrications. Each stories shared to each other are true yet some are pretentious.

I laughed and cried throughout the novel and after reading the whole thing, I felt touched. The story speaks of the truth. What happened to Rosie and Alex is not impossible. The plot is not at all fiction. Of every relationship, some things are better left unsaid. But sometimes, you have to take the risk of losing something, or someone. So that you can freed your own self and be honest to the person concerned. Anyway, the person involved has the right to know the truth behind all the inconsistencies and conflicting behaviors you have been displaying. The truth shall set you free. And in this story, the truth has indeed set both Rosie and Alex free.

GI-Joe Wannabee

I am at work now but I cannot resist the urge to blog. I am so furious towards a person. Some shit sucking Peking guy. He has been here for barely 4 months only, and yet he speaks as though he has seen everything there is to see in the Philippines. I admit I am not the patriotic kind of a person but this fucking GI Joe-wannabee is just pushing me to the limit. Let me tell you that I am well aware of the Philippine's economic status. We are a third-world country, no doubt about that. We are lagging behind other third world countries but I know more than what he assumingly knows.

A guy phoned him just a few minutes ago, and judging from this Peking guy's answer, I think the person on the other end is asking how is the Philippines. The motha-fucka answered him "they are poor. Chinese here are well-off but Filipinos are poor." Ok, I admit that most Filipino families are living way beyond the accepted norms of living. My eyes are open to the shanties alongside each and every roadside. I know that poverty here in the Philippines is very evident but no, not every Filipinos are poor. I am half-Chinese, and so I am hurt that I hear this kind of comments. I have Filipino friends that are well-off. And I have Chinese friends that are not that prosperous. I myself, belongs to a middle-class family, cliche as it may seem.

All I want is for foreigners, especially this fucking reporter-wannabee, to respect the Philippines, simply because he is working here. No one, and I emphasize NO ONE wants him to be deployed here, and we are all just abiding by the Main's decision of whom to deploy here. He should be thankful that because of this assignment, his ass is being paid for with a lot of money, more than how much he is earning before. I don't fabricate things. I tell him what the Philippines is all about. I don't only tell him stories of the good ones, but also the negative ones. I tell things as how they are, as transparent as I can be. Being a foreigner, working here with more than half of your staff are Filipinos, I think it is only appropriate to respect one another, including each other's respective countries. If you are not happy with the situation here, which, by the way, is none of your fucking business since you are here only for two years, then by all means go back to your country. If you simply cannot do that, then zip your mouth and keep your opinions to yourself if you cannot construct a less insulting way of describing things. I do not restrict people to say what they want to say, or their opinions, whether or not it is favorable to the Philippines. But please DO NOT GENERALIZE, and assume that you know everything when in fact you know nothing at all. You don't even take time to know Filipinos, their culture, their beliefs. You do not even know what is "Cojuangco" nor the significance of "Hacienda Luisita", considering you are a journalist. You do not read things about the Philippines and yet you act like you know Filipinos.

This has not been the first time that you insulted my country. Let me just tell you that if you love your country, I love my country too. It is true that your country has developed more and in a shorter span of time than what the world expected. But you know boy, your country is not heaven. There are stinking parts on your country. There are unresolved conflicts among your countrymen. Just like here in the Philippines. You do not have the right to insult the Philippines and the Filipinos just as we do not have any right to insult your country, or any other countries as well. Mutual respect pal. It is important especially if you dream of joining the "Party". Much as it is important if you are assigned to another country may it be in the USA or the Philippines.

Dude, two points
1. Do not generalize
and;
2. Mutual respect

We can co-exist, can we? If you want to trash my country, be sure that I will not hear it. If I hear it one more time, be prepared to what kind of trashing you will hear from me. Do not worry, I will not trash your country, I am not like you. But I can trash you. Oh boy, you gave me enough trash to hurl at you over time. Be prepared. "Be scared, be very scared."

No, it is not a threat. It is just a friendly reminder, boy. And if you have spare time, instead of brewing evil thoughts and insults in your mind, it will do you more good if you will read about the Philippines. So you do not end up being a shit-head relying to whatever answer you get from random people that you keep on disturbing with your very basic questions. Use the internet kid, its free, the company is paying for your internet connection at home not only for your porn sessions. Use it to your mental advantage, and not only for your carnal satisfaction. Lessen your QQ in exchange for Google search or even Wikipedia. Or better yet, read the newspaper. We have plenty of them in the office, don't be shy, just get one and read it even as you shit so that you can utilize your time better.

Damn it. And I thought this will be a good start of the week.

Role Models

I got home today and heard the news about the bickering of two hosts from the same station. Yes, I am talking about Willie Revillame and Jobert Sucaldito. I was not aware of the whole story and yet I am airing out my comment regarding the matter. Based on what I heard over TV Patrol, Willie got angry towards Jobert because of the badmouthing that the latter has been doing on his afternoon radio program against him. And according to Willie, which was shown via video clip also on TV Patrol, that he is trashing him, even in Jobert's newspaper column.

Like what I said, I do not know the whole story. What I am rambling about is the behavior that was exercised by Willie on his noontime show as he airs his side about the badmouthing of Jobert. I was in the office when Wowowee airs so I didn't get the chance to see the whole picture. But, as to what I have seen on the video clips aired by TV Patrol tonight, I would have to condemn Willie's behaviour. He 'dared' the management quite directly that the management should fire Jobert Sucaldito from ABS-CBN, and if not, he will leave his program.

Here are my points. Since I am working in a news agency, our TV in the office is tuned to the DZMM Teleradyo, where Jobert Sucaldito has an afternoon showbiz program. I admit that I do not watch the show all the time as we are just waiting for any breaking news that DZMM will air. But there are times when I have done all that I should do and just watch whatever it is on DZMM Teleradyo. I have seen Jobert's show a couple of times already and I haven't heard him comment about Willie. But of course it does not mean that when I did not hear anything from him about Willie, it did not happen at all. Plus, since I have watched the show, basically I know what the show is all about. As a commentator, which is what Jobert is in his radio program, they air their POV's about certain hot topics regarding celebrities. I have listened to them comment about this actress, this host, this politician, and honestly, the comments are sometimes really bad.

First, Willie should understand that with his line of work, he will always be under the spotlight especially now that the campaign period is in its full blast. And, we all know that he is campaigning for someone who even at the very beginning, he has been supporting already. Willie should also understand Jobert's line of work. Both of them are from the showbiz industry. Both of them are hosts of their own programs. Both of them has went through the whole show business process before they became who they are right now. Jobert's fame is not instant, and neither Willie's. Honestly, Jobert has not yet come in any way near what Willie has become now. He should not even say that Jobert should be fired. For what? For doing his job as a radio commentator? Jobert may have been accusing him of things, or maybe he has been saying a little too much negative opinions about Willie. But didn't Willie know that Jobert has been doing that also to a couple more celebrities? And not only to him solely? If Willie really wants Jobert to be sanctioned, then why not try talking to the management or more gravely, file a case if it is that offending for him? They are both in the same circle, why ask someone to be fired when you know that this is what he really do. That it is in his job description to comment. And you cannot control one person's mind so he has every right form his opinion. It just so happened that his voice can be heard not only by his peers but almost by the whole world.

My grandmother always watches Wowowee and I also watch his program when I'm home. Honestly, Willie should really be lectured on how to treat guests and players. I am not saying these to ruin your name for God's sake. I am not biased against you neither. In fact, I don't watch Eat Bulaga. I only watch Wowowee when it comes to noontime show. Sometimes, I really get offended on how you treat some of your guests and players. Sometimes I find it very offending when you laugh at someone's inability to comprehend at once what you are trying to imply. Sometimes you even forget how to respect other people's feelings. Yes I know that you are just joking and trying to make your audience laugh but is it worth it and necessary to make your audience laugh at your players' expense? Maybe some of your players don't mind that you are making fun of them but how sure are you that each and every one of those players totally don't mind being shamed in front of millions and millions of televiewers. You even shame some of your dancers on air. You may be a 'disciplinarian', a 'perfectionist', but is it worthy to point out your dancers underarm hair on worldwide telecast?

I agree with Jobert on what he said when he was interviewed by TV Patrol. How come you have the right to tell on the News and Current Affairs wrongdoing, during the late President Aquino's funeral, and you cannot be told on your attitude on air? What power do you have to comment on what the News and Current Affairs are doing, even though you are the host, and just the same what power does Jobert do not have to comment about your attitude, though he is a radio commentator?

Another point, your attitude toward ABS-CBN Management. Do you think that you are that powerful to dare the management to fire Jobert or else you will leave the program? And even if you have the power to demand things, is that the right attitude to show to the Management who gave you chances after chances everytime the MTRCB kicks your butt? You may generate the biggest income to the network, yes, but you will also be the reason of its failure. If you have to condemn other people's acts toward you, you can always go to the appropriate offices or write them a letter. What kind of an attitude is that for you to dare the Management on air? And I also do not understand that audience of yours when they clapped their hands while you were saying your piece. Are they just simply fooled by your charms or they are just simply encouraging you to be rude? I cannot understand why the network is tolerating your attitude. Are they just thinking about the present and just neglected the possible events that will come in the future following your actions? Are they now so afraid that they will lose Willie Revillame along with the advertisements that the show is generating for the company, to ignore their social responsibility?

For goodness' sake, you are being watched by millions of people, Mr. Revillame. Especially the kids, who are on summer vacation and watch Wowowee to be entertained. Do you really think that you are setting a good example to these kids that you always say 'the country's future'? Please always remember that you are being watched by many people around the globe. Always remember that your actions, even little ones, are magnified by the camera lenses. You are loved by millions of Filipinos and you will not achieve whatever you have right now if not for their love. In return, please be responsible of your actions and your words. Always remind yourself that whenever you are losing your temper on air, it does not win you sympathizers but you lose fans who are able to process between right and wrong.
